Electric ovens rely on two separate elements to generate heat. A failed one is both the most common cause of no heat and the easiest to spot.
Inspect the Bake Element
The lower element tends to blister or snap in two, leaving the oven cold.
Fix: Look it over for a visible break or a glowing hot spot; replace it if you see damage.
Test the Broil Element
If the top of the oven produces no heat while the bottom works fine, the upper broil element has likely failed.
Fix: A technician confirms this with a continuity test and swaps the element.
Check the Bake Igniter (Gas)
On a gas oven, a weakened igniter can't draw enough current to open the gas valve, so the oven never actually lights.
Fix: An igniter that glows but never gets hot enough to open the valve is the classic sign it needs replacing.
