Spilled food and residual moisture can block both the spark path and the individual gas ports.
Fix: Once everything's cool and dry, clean the igniter and clear each port with a straight pin.
Seat the Burner Cap Correctly
A cap that's slipped out of position throws off the alignment of the flame ports.
Fix: Set the cap back down squarely on its base.
Replace a Failed Igniter
A burner that produces no clicking sound whatsoever usually means its spark igniter has died.
Fix: A technician can swap in a new igniter module.
