Oven Control Panel Not Responding

A frozen or blank touch panel is often nothing more than a lockout or a power glitch — not necessarily a dead control board.

Before writing off the control board entirely, rule out the simpler explanations for an unresponsive panel.

Clear the Control Lock

Most ovens include a lockout feature that disables the panel entirely.

Fix: Hold down the lock or clear button for a few seconds to release it.

A brief electronic glitch can lock up the panel until power is interrupted.

Fix: Cut power at the breaker for about a minute, then turn it back on.

If the panel remains dark or unresponsive after that, the membrane switch or the control board itself has likely failed.

Fix: A technician can test the affected component and replace it.
