When the drum spins normally but produces no warmth, the fault sits somewhere in the heating circuit. Check these components starting with the easiest.
Blown Thermal Fuse
A restricted vent causes the dryer to overheat, which trips the one-time thermal fuse — killing the heat while leaving the motor untouched.
Fix: Replace the fuse, and just as important, track down and clear whatever blocked the vent in the first place.
Failed Heating Element or Igniter
Electric models rely on a heating element, while gas models use an igniter paired with a gas valve.
Fix: A technician checks each component for continuity and swaps out whichever one has failed.
Tripped Half of a 240V Breaker
Electric dryers draw power through two breaker poles; if just one trips, the drum will still spin but heat disappears entirely.
Fix: Fully reset the double-pole breaker at your electrical panel.
