A noisy dryer is really just telling you which part is wearing out — pay attention to what kind of sound it's making.
Squealing
A sharp, high-pitched squeal typically means dry drum rollers or a worn idler pulley.
Fix: Replace both the rollers and idler pulley as a matched set.
Thumping
A rhythmic thump often comes from a flat spot on a roller, or a lump that's developed in the felt drum seal.
Fix: Check the rollers along with the front and rear drum glides.
Grinding or Scraping
A metal-on-metal grinding sound points to worn drum glides or a blower wheel that's starting to fail.
Fix: Get these looked at quickly, before the drum itself sustains damage.
