Odors build up from debris caught in the filter and a film of grease coating the tub. Here's how to reset both.

Clean the Filter and Sump

Rotting food trapped in the filter is the number-one cause of dishwasher odor.

Fix: Pull the filter out, scrub it clean, and wipe down the sump area underneath.

Run a Vinegar Cycle

Over time, grease and mineral film coat the interior tub and hoses.

Fix: Set a cup of white vinegar on the top rack and run a full hot cycle.

Wipe the Door and Gasket

Grime tends to collect along the door edges and in the folds of the seal.

Fix: Wipe these areas down with a damp cloth once a month.
