Whirlpool Error Codes: Washer, Dryer & Fridge

F-codes and blinking lights on a Whirlpool appliance follow a consistent logic once you know how to read them.

Whirlpool covers several sub-brands but they all share a common code family. These are the faults we run into most often.

Whirlpool Washer Codes

  • F21 / 5d: Extended drain time — usually a clogged pump filter or hose.
  • F7 E1: Motor speed fault.
  • Sud: Excess suds — cut back on HE detergent.

Whirlpool Dryer Codes

  • F22 / F23: Thermistor fault.
  • PF: Power interrupted mid-cycle.

Whirlpool Refrigerator

  • Flashing temperature lights: Frequently a stuck control or a power blip — try a full reset before assuming a part has failed.
