Microwave Has No Power or Display

A microwave that's totally dead — no display, no lights — is usually down to power, the door switch, or a blown internal fuse.

When the display goes blank and nothing responds at all, the fault sits somewhere in the power path leading into the unit.

Check the Outlet and Breaker

Microwaves draw a heavy current and can trip a breaker or a GFCI outlet on their own.

Fix: Test the outlet with a different appliance and reset the breaker at the panel.

A failed interlock switch can cut power to the entire unit as a built-in safety measure.

Fix: A technician tests each switch and replaces whichever one has failed.

A power surge or an internal fault can blow the ceramic line fuse, which kills power to everything.
