A little condensate is completely normal; a puddle forming indoors is not. Here's what's usually behind it.

Clear the Drain Channel

Algae growth and accumulated dust block the condensate path, which sends water backing up into the room.

Fix: Clean out the drain channel along with the weep hole at the base of the unit.

A window unit needs to sit slightly lower toward the back so condensate drains outside rather than inside.

Fix: Adjust the mounting so the back edge sits a touch below the front.

A clogged filter causes the coil to ice over, and when that ice melts all at once, it overwhelms the drain.

Fix: Clean the filter every month to keep ice from forming in the first place.
